Blue Toba

Excellent option for lunch, food has a delicious homemade taste and if you request spicy, they will deliver! Enjoyed the chicken mee goreng a lot, tasted just like the food I enjoyed when I visited lake Toba in Indonesia a few years ago. They take Covid precautions seriously and you can only eat outside, which is great. A block down from the restaurant is a park with public restrooms, a great spot to enjoy the food.

I am Indonesian myself, and since I've moved away from home, I haven't been able to find Indonesian food that does it for me. Blue Toba was a great find as my family was driving through Oregon. It was great to enjoy familiar food that tastes like what I would used to have. The owner was really nice and got to chat with him a bit. It also turns out this restaurant was on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives! I'm not in the area often, but I would definitely make an effort to come here when I am. The restaurant is in a plaza and has ample parking.

Was very excited to try Blue Toba again after a few years of not having it.. my partner and I order 2 dishes, a rice dish and beef dish. The rice dish I ordered MILD spicy, but it ended up being way more spicy then I would’ve liked, good flavor but the heat took over and started to upset my stomach, and same with the meat.. I love spicy, but I was disappointed I couldn’t hold onto the flavor profile of the dish. Also the meat dish came with more rice, which is great, but we had so much of it and no sauces (I like my sauce) and was expecting the meat to have some sauce to compliment the rice. I recommend the cook(s) really take into account when someone says mild spicy.. I also would like to recommend having some sauce options : ) overall not a bad experience, just wanted to share mine.

Fantastic to go dining experience. We look forward to it opening for dine in.However, it is a small venue. The two dishes we got are the two most popular, but everything on the menu looked good. We loved that the spices are authentic to Indonesia. We will definitely be back for more. Don’t miss this hidden gem! Cheers!
