Hopey & Co

This was a super cool spot to pop in and get a quick set of groceries before heading home. We were in from out of town and decided to grab dinner items. I love the idea of a home for dented cans and less than desirable packages that big box stores typically throw away. I’m the type of person that would totally buy the dented can as there isn’t anything wrong with the product inside. I love the idea of being more eco friendly. Our items were fresh and made an amazing meal this evening. I think this would be an awesome stop to visit when you’re on your way to a backpacking trip. They had some of the coolest and best dried goods.

This is the best kept secret grocery store in Asheville (& Black Mountain, too) if you are looking for inexpensive/discounted, healthy, organic food. Hopey's has the best prices. I often find myself going into the store planning on buying just a few items and end up leaving with a cart load. Keep an eye on expiration dates sure, but I've never had that issue here. Their beer and wine selection is absolutely phenomenal. Who doesn't like discount boozy beverages? I've also found some rare plants here (such as these string of pearls pictured-$6 if I remember correctly) that are a fraction of the cost of what I would pay elsewhere. They carry a lot of items that are difficult to find anywhere else, and I appreciate that I'm able to try new products that I'm curious about without having to pay full price as I would in such grocery stores as Whole Foods or Earth Fare. Most of the staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, Hopey's is a gem and if you're as frugal as I am and love healthy food, you won't be disappointed!

We live close by and come to Hopey often. In all honesty, the quality/selection of vegetables and fruits can vary wildly. But ever since Shawn has been working in the butcher section, the meat section is consistently excellent. There isn't the variety that a huge chain store can offer (not that what they offer is worthwhile), but the cuts have been very high quality. Overall, this is a great market that represents the spirit Asheville very well.

This is the best discount grocery store I've ever shopped at. You never know exactly what will be in stock, so don't get attached to a favorite item, but every time I go I always find something special that is easily triple the price somewhere like whole foods. There's always great gf choices, the frozen section is a treasure trove, and I will literally never buy chips anywhere else ever again! Of course, you want to check exp dates, but ultimately, you'll find some great stuff here. It also feels very safe, they are strict about mask protocol. (Bring your own bags recommend)

I LOVE this place! They have organic and non-gmo food that you would usually find in whole foods for a fraction of the cost. My groccery bill has cut in half since I began shopping here, no exaggeration. They also have makeup, alcohol, local products, and fresh produce. Give it a shot if you haven't been here!

This place is amazing! If you've never been you need to go. Seriously. I can't imagine being able to by quality healthy food at such discounted prices. I'm a college kid paying for my own school and this place allows me to maintain a healthy and diverse diet while paying less than I would be eating rice and beans from Walmart. I literally started giggling the first time I shopped here. On top of all of these amazing things the employees are all personable and kind people that have never fallen short of above and beyond in terms of service and small talk. Thanks so much for being such an awesome business!
