Stageplate Bistro

Overall a solid soft opening and a lot of potential but they have some work to do. Service is extremely friendly but a bit disorganized. The "slushy" sangria is very tasty and not too sweet. The pitcher for 2 is a generous volume but could be stronger. Calamari appetizer was the best food item we tried. The lom lom wrap was very lettuce heavy but a decent veggie option. The California chicken sandwich was flavorful but structurally unsound with the avocado tectonic plates slipping and sliding in ranch. Fries need salt. Awesome 90s soundtrack.

So I was in town on business, and visited one of my old friends in Arlington. He took me to a bar/restaurant across the street, and they were packed with a long wait. I suggested that we try Stageplate since it was close. We walked in and the restaurant was empty at dinner time. We got extremely nervous, because usually that means bad food or service. Neither was the case. We were initially seated at a small two person table. With the appetizers and drinks, it was a little tight, but that’s usual in any restaurant. Then we were greeted by Dixie. She was the face of the front of the house. She came over to the table, and asked us if we’d like to pull over another table to give us more room. We said, “Yes, please!” Then she pulled over another table, and asked us how our drinks were. We had ordered Old Fashioneds, and they weren’t the best. So when she asked, I told her that, and suggested where I thought the issue was. She went and made us fresh ones, that were amazing. Our waiter was also great. He took care of us perfectly, and Dixie was there to ensure an amazing dining experience. I asked her if she was the owner or General Manager, and she said, “Nope, I do a little bit of everything. I just want to make sure everyone has a great time here.” I complimented the restaurant’s delicious burger, and she asked if I’d like to talk to the manager. We said of course, and we met the owner. She was kind and I told her that the restaurant was amazing, and that there was absolutely no reason for that restaurant not to be packed. She was very gracious. I highly recommend going. If the front of the menu isn’t your style, then flip it over. They have some great stuff on the back as well.

I took the wife and three kids out for dinner while visiting the DC area. I hesitated when we showed up around 6:00pm and the place was deserted. But, after a quick glance at the menu and being impressed by the atmosphere, we decided to try it out. We were NOT disappointed. The service was great and very friendly. The food was amazing and in large quantities! When the check came, I was pleasantly surprised -- quite reasonable for feeding a family of five. Everyone was happy with the choice and we will most certainly come back during our week-long visit. I highly recommend this place. Great atmosphere for either a night out with the family, friends, or a date.

My wife and I hosted our wedding rehearsal dessert reception here. The experience was above and beyond what we could have hoped for. The staff was extremely attentive to our large group and the food was excellent. Without us asking they provided beautiful decor to make our night special. The owners, who are present on site, were friendly, generous, and available to meet all our needs. We cannot recommend this restaurant any more highly and will be returning here in the future. Original review: HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I had dinner here before Thanksgiving, it was a great experience. Complimentary bottled mineral water and focaccia bread. The crab dip was absolutely delicious. If I lived nearby I would go just for the crab dip all the time. The salad was also delicious and quite filling. Edit: I came back to the area and planned to eat here again but it was closed with no indication online and they even had the sign sitting outside advertising daily hours and happy hour specials. I asked the building guard what was up and she said it hasn't opened in a month or more. Just update the information online to reflect the hours and edit the chalk board sign outside to reflect this as well.

Husband got the soup, fall salad, and half a sandwich and I got the LA Baby salad with grilled salmon. The food was amazingly filling, which is hard for my husband to find because he's a blackhole for calories, and it had great flavor. The salmon serving was thick and cooked exactly how I like it, soft and savory. I got a coffee at the end that tasted great without cream, a rare find for me. Our servers name was Chris S. and he went so far out of his way to be on the ball with refills and suggestions for his favorite dressing and style of salmon when I asked. He legitimately made my experience so much better, hard to find that level of caring in server's in this area.
